Challenge
The current landscape of plastic recycling is hindered by a lack of advanced technology, which limits the ability to efficiently and effectively process a wide variety of plastic materials for comprehensive recycling.
This technological gap not only impedes the recycling rate but also poses challenges to the development of more sustainable and environmentally friendly practices in waste management.
Key Intervention
EEL invested in state-of-the-art recycling equipment to:
- Convert waste plastic film into reusable pellets.
- Process discarded PET bottles into high quality flakes for reuse in the manufacturing sector.
Outcome
- 770,162 kg of waste plastic film recycled between 2021 and 2024.
- 602,495 kg of PET bottles recycled between September 2023 and December 2024.
- Strengthened relationships with downstream processing industries, ensuring sustainable waste management.
Lessons learned
